I received a discounted ticket in exchange for promoting the Food Wine Conference, all opinions are my own.
AMayzing May is just about over, and it was as busy and exciting as I thought it would be. A few days after my daughter Kristin graduated from college we headed off to Orlando to attend the Food Wine Conference. Since it was our very first time attending the conference, we were not sure what to expect, and I have to say it was everything we thought it would be and more!
The Food Wine Conference opened its doors Friday evening with a wine tasting sponsored by CK Mondavi, along with a cookbook exchange and a sampling of Idaho potato latkes. The recipe was compliments of Ina Pinkney, aka The Breakfast Queen and author of Memories and Recipes from the Breakfast Queen. Those potato latkes were only the beginning! Dinner was about to be served, and it was a delectable taste of Rosen Shingle Creek Resort, here is a sampling . . .
All kinds of sushi . . .
Scallops . . .
The Saturday opener was an expansive and yummy breakfast buffet at the Rosen Shingle Creek Resort, followed by a day of inspiring and informative speakers sharing their wisdom on a variety of topics:
- Inspiration and courage
- Writing a cookbook proposal
- Growing Facebook presence and building your brand
- Time Management
- Engaging with brands
- Panel discussion with sponsoring brands
- Sustainable farming
Smoothie bowls provided by Duda farms were served during morning break – and lunch was a taco bar sponsored by Mann’s Vegetables. It was the healthiest looking taco bar I’ve ever seen! It was loaded with so many fresh vegetables, I decided to make mine into a salad – just what I needed after having a bite of fried lasagna the night before!
After lunch Kristin and I #gotforked.
Saturday was a full day that led into an evening of more over the top food, wine, and fun! Our dinner was served home-style and featured sponsor Certified Angus Beef’s short ribs along with salad, collard greens, shrimp and grits and hushpuppies. And of course a glass of wine for each course compliments of CK Mondavi.
The evening ended with a super #fun sock hop which was sponsored by Florida Strawberries.
Needless to say, we slept well on Saturday night! We were up bright and early on Sunday, and we headed over to University of Central Florida Rosen College of Hospitality for another day of activities! We spent a full day learning about brand building, health benefits of dairy, cooking with dairy, growing an Instagram following, food styling/ photography, videos, and tips for starting a start-up. Just before lunch, I got Sauced by @saucyqueen!
After lunch, CK Mondavi and Wish Farms sponsored a #hashed competition. Each table was provided with ingredients/props to create a unique drink using wine and fresh berries. Guess what? Our table won! Here is a picture of our tasty creation. . .
Last, a big shout out to Kelly at Roost Crate for giving an informative talk in the very last session of the conference about starting a start-up business. Kelly recently launched her company and spoke of her experiences as she turned her dream into a reality. Roost Crate is the company I was a brand ambassador for, and I absolutely love the concept of it. If you haven’t heard of Roost Crate, it’s a farmer’s market that comes to you in a box. I had a taste of some of the goodies that Roost Crate offers, and they were delicious! If you enjoy shopping at farmer’s markets, you really have to check Roost Crate out.
All in all, time spent at the Food Wine Conference was awesome! Not only was the food and wine amazing; I learned so much and met some pretty incredible people! This was my first blogging conference ever, and I picked the right one to attend. If you would like to learn more about The Food Wine Conference, check it out here and I hope to see you there next year!
