Blend up a nutritious and tasty smoothie to start off your day.
Breakfast is THE most important meal of the day. Unfortunately, it is the most forgotten meal of the day too. Quick and easy breakfasts often end up being unhealthy choices. Blending up a nutritious smoothie in the morning only takes a few minutes and you will feel much better after drinking it than you would if you ate sugary high carb breakfast.
My basic smoothie formula is a handful of spinach or kale, fruits of choice, 1/2 avocado, a few tablespoons of chia seeds, flax seeds or hemp seeds, water and ice if I’m not using frozen fruit.
If you are in a morning crunch, blend up your smoothie the night before and store in the fridge for a grab and go breakfast.
- 1 handful baby spinach
- ½ avocado cut into chunks
- ½ cup frozen mango chunks
- ½ orange or 1 clementine
- 1½ tablespooons chia seeds
- 1½ tablespoon hemp seeds or flax seed meal
- ½ cup filtered water
- ¼ cup of crushed ice (if using frozen fruit ice is not needed)
- place all ingredients into blender and mix well
- pour into glass and enjoy!
