STEP 1: Place all of the ingredients into the bowl of a food processor.

STEP 2: Blend the ingredients in the food processor until the mixture forms a dough-like texture.

STEP 3: Press the brownie dough in a small baking dish. Sprinkle the top of the brownies with chopped walnuts and place them in the refrigerator for 20 minutes.

Dates. The best type of dates to use in this recipe is Medjool dates. They are soft, deliciously sweet and the perfect texture to blend into a caramel-like paste.

Medjool Date Substitutes. You can do a one-for-one swap of regular dates or dried figs.

Walnuts. Raw walnuts are used to make this recipe. They are soft and rich and blend nicely with the dates into a dough.

Walnut Substitutes. If you don’t have walnuts, you can easily substitute the same amount of raw cashews, pecans or almonds in this recipe.

Ingredients

  • 1 1/4 cups walnut pieces
  • 20 medjool dates pitted
  • 1/2 cup organic cocoa powder

Instructions

  • place all of the ingredients into a food processor 
  • process the ingredients into a dough like texture it will form into a ball – this may take 3 to 4 minutes
  • spread the dough into a square 7X11 pan and sprinkle with walnuts
  • Refrigerate for at least 20 minutes before slicing
