Homemade Granola Bars
Have you ever tried to make your own granola bars at home? They are super easy to make and taste so much better than any granola bar that you can buy at the store.
There is usually some type of granola bar in our fridge. If I’m not making peanut butter chocolate chip granola bars, I am making up a batch of these Dark Chocolate Grain Free Granola bars.
It only takes a few wholesome ingredients to make up a batch of these granola bars, and it can be done in less than 30 minutes.
The only baking that is required is lightly toasting the oats and peanuts in oven before they are mixed together which give the bars a less chewy and more cookie-like texture.

- Vanilla or vanilla bean paste I used Taylor and Colledge Vanilla Bean Paste
Peanut Butter Chocolate Chip Granola Bars Recipe Steps
Please note that this a list of steps to give you an idea how to make this recipe. Full details are in the recipe card below.
- Toast the oats and peanuts
- Combine and heat the peanut butter and syrup
- Stir in the vanilla paste
- Combine all of the ingredients in a bowl
- Turn the mixture into a pan and press down firmly and refrigerate
Total Estimated Time to Make this Recipe: 20 to 30 minutes
Tips
- After you have added all of the ingredients to the pan and patted it down, place a piece of parchment paper over the top and press down using your hands, a spatula or a cup, this will help to hold the bars together
- Homemade granola bars are more fragile than store-bought, store them in the refrigerator for best results. If you want the chocolate chips to hold their shape, combine the nuts, oats and liquid ingredients and place in the refrigerator for 15 minutes before adding the chips. We like the way the chips melt into the mixture, but that is up to you.
Peanut Butter Chocolate Chip Bars Variations
- Use almonds and almond butter in place of the peanuts and peanut butter
- Add 2 tablespoons chia seeds to the mixture of ingredients
- For a nut-free version replace the peanut butter with a seed butter such as sun butter and pepitas, or sunflower seeds in place of the peanuts.
