Chicken with Apples and Tea
This recipe is a riff on a chicken dish I usually make with apple cider. I replaced the apple cider with Republic of Tea Apple Cider Tea, and it is the perfect addition to Braised Chicken with Apples. It has the flavor of apple cider without the sugar, making it an ideal ingredient for a savory-sweet fall dinner.
Braised chicken with apples cooks slowly and fills your kitchen with the aromas of fall. The onions and apples soften and cook down into the sauce adding an extra level of flavor. The end result is tender chicken covered in a delicious sauce. Serve Braised Chicken with Apples on top of a bed of steamed brown rice or mashed potatoes and a side dish of roasted Brussels sprouts.
*** I received free samples of Republic of Tea Apple Cider Tea to make this recipe, as always all opinions are my own.***
What is Braising?
Braising is a cooking method that starts with high heat to sear the meat and is then reduced to a low simmer in a liquid to finish it off.
A dish can be braised in the oven or on top of the stove. The stove top method requires a little more attention, since the heat is direct, and you don’t want the liquid to boil the meat. The oven method is more set it and forget it.
