Ingredients

  • Yellow Onions, Red Onions, White Onions, or Sweet Onions.
  • Avocado or Olive Oil Cooking Spray

Prepare: Use a sharp knife to slice the onions into slices that are about 1/8 to 1/4 inch thick. Preheat the air-fryer to 375 degrees.

STEP 1: Place the sliced onions onto an air fryer basket or tray in a single layer. Spray with avocado oil spray.

STEP 2: Air fry at 375 degrees into until they turn golden brown – about 15 to 20 minutes.

NOTE: Cooking times can vary depending on the model of your air fryer and the thickness of the onion slices. Adjust the cooking time as needed for your preferred level of caramelization and texture.

If you have leftovers, they can be stored in an airtight container in the refrigerator for 3 to 4 days. Enjoy leftovers cold, or reheat them in the air fryer, microwave or oven.

Tips for making the best air-fried onions

  • Some onion slices may cook faster than others, you can remove them as they start to turn cripsy.

  • 1 large onion

Instructions

  • Prepare the ingredients: cut the onions into slices that are about 1/8 to 1/4 inch thick. Preheat the air fryer to 375 degrees
  • Arrange the onion slices in an even layer in an air fryer basket or tray. Once the air fryer is heated, air fry the onions until they are golden and crispy which will take about 15 to 20 minutes.

Notes

Keep an eye on the onions as they cook after 10 minutes, some pieces may brown up faster than others. Remove them as they start to brown.
Due to the size of the air fryer this recipe uses one large onion which serves approximately one to two people.  For larger quantity you may need to make these in batches.
