Apple Cider Pork Loin – Instant Pot Recipe

This apple cider pork loin Instant Pot recipe is full of savory and sweet flavors. Since it’s made in an Instant Pot, this tender pork roast can be on the table in under an hour, and with minimal effort. Here is what you will need

Ingredients

  • Boneless pork loin roast or boneless pork chops
  • Olive oil
  • Apple cider or apple juice
  • Garlic (minced or crushed)
  • Soy Sauce – tamari or coconut aminos will work too
  • Cinnamon
  • Onion

Prep your ingredients. Mince the garlic, measure out the soy sauce, cinnamon, and cider, then slice the onion.

STEP 1: Rub the garlic and cinnamon all over the pork loin. Set your Instant Pot to saute, add olive oil and place the pork in and sear it on all sides. This helps to seal in the flavor.

STEP 2: Remove the pork from the pot and set it aside. Toss in the sliced onions and cook until they start to turn soft.

STEP 3: Place the pork back into the Instant Pot on top of the onions; pour in the apple cider and soy sauce.

STEP 4: Lock the lid and set your Instant Pot to cook at high pressure for 15 minutes. Let the pressure release naturally for 15 minutes before removing the lid.

Note: Cooking time can vary depending on your pressure cooker‘s model and the meat’s size. The pork will be fully cooked once it reaches an internal temperature of at least 145 degrees f.

Tips

  • To thicken the sauce, mix 1 tablespoon flour with 1 tablespoon water and stir it into the pot until the sauce thickens.
  • Let the pork rest several minutes before slicing so the juices don’t run out.

How to Store and Use Leftovers

Store leftover pork in an airtight container and place it in the refrigerator for up to 4 days.

Warm up portions in the oven at 350°F or on the stovetop. Cold slices make great sandwiches or salads, wraps or egg roll bowls.

Recipe Variations

Make this recipe your own; here are some suggestions.

  • Spicy – Mix in a pinch of red pepper flakes or chipotle powder.
  • Smoky – Add 1/4 to 1/2 teaspoon smoked paprika to the rub.
  • Tangy – Stir in a splash (about 1/8 cup) of apple cider vinegar and a spoonful of Dijon mustard.
  • Herb and Garlic – Toss in some chopped rosemary or thyme with the garlic.

Serving suggestions

Pair this apple cider pork loin with mashed potatoes, roasted sweet potatoes, green beans, roasted brussels sprouts or sauteed cauliflower.

What is the difference between a pork loin and a pork tenderloin?

Pork loin and pork tenderloin are two different cuts of meat. Pork loin contains more fat which wil result in a more flavorful roast. Pork tenderloin is leaner and smaller. You can use them interchangeably, but the cooking time needs to be adjusted.

Can I make this Instant Pot pork recipe in a slow cooker?

Yes, you can adapted this recipe for a Crock Pot. Sear the meat and saute the aromatics in a pan before transferring them to a slow cooker. Cook on low for about 6 hours, check for doneness with a meat thermometer. The internal temperature should be at least 145 degrees F.

  • 1 tablespoon Olive oil
  • 2 pound Pork Loin Roast
  • 1 cup Apple Cider
  • 1 clove Garlic
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons Soy Sauce
  • 1/4 teaspoon Cinnamon
  • 1 Onion Sliced

Instructions

  • Prepare the ingredients: Crush or mince the garlic, measure the soy sauce, cinnamon and apple cider. Slice the onion. Preheat a pressure cooker on the saute setting.
  • Rub the crushed or minced 1 clove Garlic into the meat followed by 1/4 teaspoon Cinnamon.
  • Heat 1 tablespoon Olive oil in the Instant Pot or pressure cooker on the saute setting. Once the pressure cooker is hot, add the meat and sear the meat on all sides. Remove it from the pressure cooker.
  • Next add 1 Onion, sliced to the cooker and cook for a few minutes until they begin to turn soft.
  • Place the pork on top of the onions, and add 1 cup Apple Cider and 1 1/2 teaspoons Soy Sauce. Cover and cook at high pressure for 15 minutes. Let the cooker slow release for 15 minutes and carefully remove the cover.

Notes

Make the sauce thicker with a slurry of 1 tablespoon flour and  1 tablespoon water; stir gradually into the sauce until it turns thick.
Serve with mashed potatoes, sweet potatoes, green beans, or roasted vegetables. 
Store leftovers in the refrigerator for 3 to 4 days.
