- Brussels sprouts
- Apples – Any variety such as honeycrisp apples, golden delicious apples, fuji apples, pink lady apples or granny smith apples.
- Olive oil, avocado oil or vegetable oil
- Maple syrup or honey
- Fresh garlic or garlic powder
- Balsamic vinegar (optional)
How to make roasted Brussels sprouts and apples
Prepare the ingredients: Clean and cut the Brussels sprouts in half, trim the stems and leaves. Cut the apples into chunks similar in size to the Brussels sprout halves.
Chop the garlic, preheat the oven to 400 degrees F, and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.

STEP 1: Place the apples, brussels sprouts and garlic into a mixing bowl.

Combine the olive oil and balsamic vinegar. Pour the mixture over the brussels sprouts and gently mix until everything is coated with the oil/vinegar mixture.

STEP 3: Arrange the apples and Brussels sprouts in a single layer on a parchment-lined baking sheet and roast until they turn golden brown – about 20 to 30 minutes.
NOTE: Cooking time can vary depending on your oven and how you like your brussels sprouts cooked.

Fruit – Substitute the apples with an equal amount of pears, grapes, raisins, and craisins.
Add nuts Just before serving sprinkle in toasted walnuts, pecans, pistachios or almonds.
Meat – Sprinkle roasted Brussels sprouts with crumbled bacon, or crispy pieces of fried prosciutto.
Spicy – Add up to a teaspoon of red pepper flakes for a spicy version.
Change up the vinegar – Substitute balsamic vinegar with apple cider vinegar or white wine vinegar.
Aromatics – Boost the flavor and add slices of a small onion, shallot or chopped garlic to the pan before roasting. They will also caramelize and add a delicious flavor.

Balsamic Roasted Brussels Sprouts with Apples
Equipment
Ingredients
- 1 pound Brussels sprouts cut into halves
- 1 apple large and cut into cubes
- 4 tablespoons olive oil
- 2 tablespoons balsamic vinegar
- 1 teaspoon maple syrup
- 1 clove crushed garlic
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 400 degrees
- Prepare the ingredients: wash, trim, and cut the Brussels sprouts in half, peel and cut the apple into chunks, crush the garlic.
- Mix the 2 tablespoons vinegar, 4 tablespoons of oil, garlic clove, and 1 teaspoon of syrup together and set it aside.
- Place the prepared Brussels sprouts, apples, and garlic in a bowl and toss them with the balsamic oil mixture until all of the apples and Brussels sprouts are coated.
- Line a baking sheet with parchment paper and arrange the mixture onto the baking sheet and bake for 30 minutes.
